I’m Lesley French, and I’ve always had a deep passion for physical fitness and mental health. My number one priority is making a positive impact on people’s health and well-being.
Let me tell you a bit about myself. I was born in 1965 in England, but when I was 9 years old, my family moved to Australia. I’ve dedicated myself to fitness and even earned certification in fitness. Working closely with an amazing physiotherapist, I developed the Better Balance for Life program, which focuses on improving balance, strength, stability and overall mental well-being.
It all started back in 2015 when I was searching for an exercise program suitable for my 80-year-old mother. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find anything that fit her needs. Existing options were either too challenging, too easy, or didn’t target the specific exercises required to enhance balance, strength, and stability without causing extra pain or injury.
During that time, I was also going through a difficult period, trying to find the strength to leave an abusive relationship that had lasted for 25 long years. Thankfully, I managed to achieve that goal.
But I soon realised that I was struggling with the aftermath and triggers from that relationship, making it hard for me to handle everyday life. Though I tried to convince myself that I was okay, the truth was that I felt mentally overwhelmed.
On top of that, I faced physical health challenges. I was carrying excess weight and couldn’t seem to shed it, experiencing poor sleep, frequent mental fog, low energy levels, and a persistently low mood. These struggles pushed me to search for ways to rediscover my true self, the person I felt I had lost along the way.
That’s when I embarked on a journey to learn about Neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to change. It was truly eye-opening! Understanding the mind-body connection made such a difference in how I felt. I realised that my brain had been holding me hostage.
Armed with this newfound knowledge, I knew I had to share it with as many people as possible. My current goal is to help individuals find their old selves and achieve mental and physical fitness.
